Break-Bulk Cargo case study
Challenge
We were approached to negotiate and arrange cleaning, packaging, loading, and transporting 1600 pieces of a 20-year-old, unassembled Metso paper-making machine from the Arlington, Wash. warehouse site to the Port of Busan, Korea, with a deadline to evacuate storage warehouses three months from the start of shipping.
Solution
Using on-site Dunavant staff to oversee, coordinate, and facilitate all activities at warehouse/yard and ports, we developed and managed a turnkey solution that included equipment cleaning, on-site packaging/crating, containerization as applicable, drayage and heavy haul to U.S. port-of-exit, and ocean freight to destination port for import into South Korea.
Results
All containers and break-bulk items arrived to destination ports in line with receiving customer’s expectations, on time and under budget for the entire project, with no damage claims or lost equipment. Export documentation was accepted by Korean customs authorities and all equipment was cleared into the country without incident.
