Distribution company expands warehouse footprint near Port of Houston

Memphis, Tennessee-based Dunavant, a logistics and supply chain company, has expanded its distribution presence near the Port of Houston.

The company recently leased a second chemical warehousing facility in the Bay Area Business Park. The warehouse, at 9431 Bay Area Blvd., opened on Sept. 1, according to a Dunavant spokeswoman.

The new warehouse includes 212,000 square feet of H3-H4 rated chemical storage, a 50,000-square-foot flammable liquid storage area with AFFF foam, primary and secondary containment, and fence security with a drop lot.

That brings Dunavant’s Houston footprint to 789,000 total square feet. Late last year, Dunavant preleased space in Phase II of the Bay Area Business Park, which was set to deliver this month. That deal boosted the company’s Houston footprint to 577,000 square feet, the company said.

Principal Real Estate Investors owns Bay Area Business Park in Pasadena. The park is developed, leased and managed by Dallas-based Stream Realty Partners. Dunavant did not use a broker for its most recent lease. Instead, the company worked directly with the brokers representing the business park. Dean Bay, senior vice president of Dunavant Distribution Group, leads Dunavant’s Houston warehouse facilities.

“Our growing customer demand and successful relationship with Houston’s distribution center complex prompted growth in Dunavant’s warehousing capacity,” Dunavant COO Richard McDuffie said in a Sept. 19 release. “We’re pleased to add to our existing network and increase our service area and resources.”
