Dunavant Expands with New Mid-South terminal, Texas Warehouses
By Michelle Corbet, Memphis Business Journal
Dunavant Logistics has grown its regional warehousing reach to 500,000 square feet with the addition of a new drayage terminal and warehouse in Olive Branch and a new warehouse in Houston.
“The suite of logistics services we provide to our customers is substantial and growing,” says Dunavant COO Richard McDuffie. “Offering additional transportation and warehousing services in Memphis creates a complete turn-key solution. We now can simultaneously acquire new business while providing more services to our existing customer base.”
The new container drayage terminal, soon to open at 6850 Stateline Rd. near I-240 and Highway 78 in Olive Branch, will fill the corridor with Dunavant’s ten other Southeast and Midwest terminals, specifically Nashville, the company said in a news release.
The new facility provides cross-dock services for a growing flooring and products retailer, along with order fulfillment services for a consumer outdoors goods company. In support of these customers, Dunavant will also provide inbound transportation services from domestic and international suppliers and outbound transportation services to domestic retail locations, the company said.
Shane Rodgers, who has 20 years of experience in the intermodal industry, was recently hired to serve as the terminal manager. The new terminal is seeking additional associates and contractors.
Dunavant recently opened an 185,000-square-foot warehouse in Pasadena, Texas to compliment its Houston warehouse. The two Texas facilities total close to 400,000 square feet and are located within five miles of Barbours Cut and Bayport terminals.
“We are eager to build on our success in Memphis and expand to manufacturers and retailers looking for distribution solutions in the Mid-South and beyond,” said McDuffie. “Dunavant’s recent national milestones motivate our team members even further to serve our customers at the highest level.”
