Memphis logistics firm Dunavant grows in China, Mobile

Dunavant Global Logistics Group LLC has expanded with the opening of a new unit in China and acquisition of a private customs brokerage company in Mobile, Alabama.
The Memphis-based company announced the opening of Dunavant International Freight Agency in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China, and acquisition of John M. Brining Inc. in Mobile, Alabama.
“Dunavant continues to respond to growing customer demand across all verticals,” Dunavant chief operating officer Richard McDuffie said. “Our unique customer service and commitment to quality and delivery yield benefits to both Dunavant and our clientele. By offering complete door-to-door domestic and global services, we are able to manage the complete international supply chain.”
Brining, founded in 1946, specializes in customs brokerage and customized delivery shipping alternatives.
“Over the years, we’ve had many opportunities to sell,” said Lillian C. Brining, J.M. Brining president. “But due to our strong, small family business culture, we were waiting for the right partner with aligning values. We value Dunavant’s integrity and are confident in their approach.”

The new China-based subsidiary will be led by Victor Xiong, general manager of Dunavant Asia Logistics.
